The importance of organic for good health and wellbeing

Viridian Nutrition is excited to be supporting the Soil Association’s national Organic September 2017 campaign which raises awareness of the benefits of organic.

At the heart of Viridian Nutrition is a philosophy that cares for the natural products movement supporting organic growing, avoiding the use of potentially harmful pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals – and having the 100% non-GMO guarantee. We believe the health of the individual and planet are inextricably linked and it starts with natural organic products which offers the best chance of long-term good health for the mind, body and environment.

In recent years, more informed consumer choices, changes in diets for health or lifestyle reasons along with the struggle of the NHS to address the nation’s health challenges has meant increasingly, organic is becoming a natural choice or a way of life for individuals. The term ‘organic’ is now being widely used in marketing but you can only be sure that a product is truly organically grown if the product is certified by a reputable regulatory body such as the Soil Association.

Within the UK, the Soil Association, a trusted regulatory body, sets the highest standard for organic accreditation. For a food product to be called organic, every stage in the supply chain has to meet organic standards and be certified to prove it. All organic farms and food companies are inspected at least once a year. They need to prove that robust systems are in place with paperwork that shows the standards have been met. Approved organic products carry the Soil Association certification label.

Here at Viridian Nutrition, more than 40% of the range is certified organic by the Soil Association further enhancing the provenance and the eco-friendliness of the ingredients.
