When it comes to skin health, there are a few vitamins and minerals you need to consider. One of these is vitamin C which is involved in the production of collagen - which holds the skin cells in place and gives skin structural integrity.

The key minerals for skin health are zinc and selenium. Zinc is used by our white blood cells to code genes that regulate the way the white blood cells interact with pathogens - pathogens may cause infections. In the case of acne, where there is active infection, raising your immune response can help to clear the infection faster. Zinc also regulates the activity of the sebaceous glands (the glands that secrete oil). If the skin produces excess oil, sufficient zinc intake can reduce oil production. Likewise if the skin is too dry, sufficient zinc intake will increase sebaceous secretion therefore zinc regulates the oil produced in the skin.

Inflammation of the skin is represented by active redness. Selenium is similar to a building block for our body’s anti-inflammatory enzymes and can help make lesions less severe.

Some of the best sources of zinc and selenium can be found in nuts and seeds. Look for pumpkin seeds which are rich in zinc, Brazil nuts are abundant in selenium whilst walnuts are known for having both of these important minerals.

The Clear Skin Programme devised by experts at ethical vitamin company Viridian Nutrition, incorporates diet and lifestyle together with selected nutritional supplements and a nutritional oil.

Developed to support optimal skin health, the Clear Skin Programme incorporates recipes from The Clear Skin Cookbook1 by TV chef Dale Pinnock, together with two supplements - Clear Skin Complex capsules and Organic Clear Skin Omega Oil - from Viridian Nutrition.

The Clear Skin Programme has been tested in two in-depth surveys, one in 2013 and the other in 2017. Participants in the 2017 survey were required to take the Clear Skin Complex and Organic Clear Skin Omega Oil and follow a recipe from the Clear Skin Cookbook daily for 60 days.

The 20172 survey confirmed the 20133 results, and reported that 76% of participants described their skin condition to be ‘better’ or ‘much better’ after following the Clear Skin Programme for 60 days.

The Clear Skin Complex Veg Caps is a specifically formulated blend of targeted botanicals, key minerals and fat soluble antioxidants in a base of probiotics.

The Organic Clear Skin Omega Oil 200ml is a blend of omega-3 dominant flax seed oil, perilla seed oil, avocado oil, pumpkin seed oil, argan oil, rosehip seed oil, sea buckthorn oil, pomegranate seed oil, blackcurrant seed oil and elderberry seed oil, certified organic by the Soil Association.
