More than 300 competitors took part in the 2019 Viridian Daventry Triathlon, making it a sell-out event.

Triathletes of all abilities and across all ages gathered in Daventry for the eighth sprint distance triathlon encompassing: 400m pool swim at Daventry Leisure Centre, 20km cycle through the local Northamptonshire countryside and 5km run around Daventry Country Park.

The results were:

-Sophie Kirk from ‘Ful-onTri’ smashed the ladies course record by over a minute, by posting a time of 1:03:55, winning the ladies overall prize – a time over a minute quicker than the previous record set in 2012.

-Jack Bond won the men’s overall;

-Nuneaton Triathlon Club won the Viridian Gold Team category for the third year running;

-Team JAK produced the best time of all the relay teams.

Marketing Manager Tom Welch, said: “Whether it’s setting a new personal best or improving self-confidence, the triathlon is a fantastic way of improving your journey to health and wellness. It is terrific to see so many participants trying new and pushing their own boundaries.  They are an inspiration to others – Viridian Nutrition is proud to sponsor this community event.”

The event on 8th September was organised by the Rugby Triathlon Club in support of its two charities – Bloodwise and Children’s Christmas Wish List; sponsored by ethical vitamin company Viridian Nutrition and Sheaf Street Health Store, both based in Daventry.

Rugby Triathlon Club Race Director Matt Hayward said: “What a great way to mark the eighth triathlon in Daventry – with a new course record! It’s inspiring to see so many people of all standards competing in this race.

“Daventry is a perfect location as it has a great leisure centre and country park and the facilities to make a memorable event. We’d like to thank all our supporters and volunteers for getting involved and making it so successful.”
