Viridian Daventry Triathlon 2017 is a big success

Tuesday September 19, 2017

More than 200 triathletes took to the pavements, swimming pool and roads for the Viridian Daventry Triathlon 2017 on Sunday 17 September.

The event saw competitors from all abilities – from club level to those making their debut - taking part in the challenge in support of The Air Ambulance Service and Genetic Disorders UK charities.

Sponsored by Viridian Nutrition, the ethical supplements company, and Sheaf Street Health Store, an independent health food retailer, participants entered as individuals or relay teams. They had to complete a 400metre swim at Daventry Leisure Centre pool, 20km cycle through the rolling Northamptonshire countryside and a 5km run around the scenic Daventry Country Park.

All finishers received a unique medal made from recycled bicycle chain and sustainable bamboo.

Tom Welch, of Viridian Nutrition, who also entered, said: “We were thrilled with the response to this event organised by Rugby Triathlon Club.

“We had a fabulous turnout and the rain stayed away which added to the enjoyment and experience for everyone participating whether they were triathletes, spectators or volunteers helping on the day.

“Everyone should be proud of their achievement in reaching the finishing line. Well done!”

Garry Haynes, Race Director. said: “The weekend’s race once again produced some close competitive racing from over 250 competitors, great supportive crowds and some wonderful and exhilarated first-timers. We are so pleased that with the backing of Viridian Nutrition and other local businesses we’ve seen the popularity of this event grow.”
